Fab {ric} Finds

Here are yesterday's textile treasures:

We changed up the color scheme of the whole room..whoops! They were having a 1/2 off sale!! We bought all that they had left of the blue/white stripe..it just happens to be very similar to these:

I have been DYING for some since Grace Happens mentioned purchasing them a couple of weeks back!

I've also been meaning to take pics of the things we've "given a new life" so far for Emily's apartment...I'll get on that.

Can't wait to see the bench and pillows covered in her new fab!

Always A Bridesmaid...

Well, not ALWAYS. This is my first wedding and I could NOT be more excited!!

A few weeks ago, my phone rang and it was my brothers' {precious- adorable- funny- smart- pretty...the list goes on} fiance!

We don't get to have too many chit chats over the phone- so I was just happy to hear from her!..

THEN-

It happened!...

After talking and playing catch up for a minute....

SHE POPPED THE QUESTION! :) :) :)

She asked me to be in the wedding!! YAY!

I could not have hand picked another person in this world that is better suited for Seth.. and I am absolutely estatic to be gaining such a wonderful Sis figure!

- Seth-{Maggie}-Kim

I miss you guys! Hopefully I'll see ya soon... Love ya!

Choc-ohh-lot

OK, the chocolate is missing, and even if it wasn't- you would not want to partake of its remains. Trust me.

I found this wonderful little tin while on a yard sale extravaganza with the girls about a month ago. She was a bit of a bank breaker at $0.10- but I had a feelin' I could shine 'er up. :)

Here she is in all {well, about half} of her beaut-

Aww..isn't she a cutie? I've only had time to knock the dust off the top so far, but she's come a long way- her top was teetotally black when I purchased her!

I just love the little bird and flower details! :)

I'll let ya know when I decide what the heck to use her for!

Fab {ric}

We're off to find some fabric to spice up Em's new apartment! :)

Be back with the results later!

So Hard To Say Goodbye..

Yesterday evening, I decided to have swimfest at Mom's house! Sadie, Emily, Taylor and I had a great time!

But the whole time, all I could think of was my sweet little Ginger not being there :(

I miss her SO much-

The first pic was taken last week and the second was the last one I took of her Saturday before we took her to the vet...

Something was def missing- swimfest just isn't the same without her!! :)

The Good Life

Just thought I'd share with you my plans for after work today! :)

Today, the sky looks like this:

Therefore, Sadie and I plan to do this:

She absolutely HATES the water- can you tell? :)

On a sad note:

My beautiful Hydrangeas are wilting :(

I just love having fresh flowers scattered throughout the house!
{and I'm a sucker for Milk Glass!}
Any suggestions on what to use next?

Ginger

When I was about seven years old, a stray puppy showed up at our house one day. Of course, my parents said what most parents would say, NO! But after a few days of convincing, they were just as hooked on her as I was. What we didn't know was- she would quickly become a member of the family and spend the next fifteen-ish wonderful years winning us over a little more everyday- and with every little hand shake :)

Those years have flown by entirely too fast!

Saturday afternoon, after weeks of debating, my family decided to let our sweet little girl go.
:( She was getting older and more fragile..and a few months ago developed an external cancerous growth, which got progressively worse over the past few weeks.

It's unbelievable how attached we become to pets! We miss her so much already, but know that she is in a better place and no longer in pain! :)

Love you G!

Proud

I had a wonderful weekend! It was absolutely PACKED with beauty! {No, not me.} It really made me realize how much I LOVE the town that I was raised in. Some would say that there is absolutely NO WAY that they could survive here for a day with not one single sit down restaurant that isn't exclusive to the town, or with a Wal-Mart that is located right smack dab in the middle of a field!...

Literally.
But I can honestly say that as boring as it is sometimes, I dont think I'd rather have it any other way!

Friday, Emily and I took a short little trip to "Broken Dam", one of our favorite spots-

Need I say more?

Saturday, after yard sales and trade day, of course! Emily and I took a little stroll through Menlo, a neighboring town. {where Lyd works}

They were all decked out Independence Day style..

Then, we have sweet little Summerville..
Although parts of it have not been preserved very well over the years, it still has very rare beauty- if you ask me :) OK, let's do a little drive through, shall we?

>{Keep in mind, all photos were snapped- and I do mean snapped- while driving. My apologies.}

Love it.

Sunday, I spent the evening with my lifelong Valentine- aka Nanny.
We went to Cave Spring, which is full of beautiful old homes and an antique shop on every corner!..Did I say Cave Spring? 'Cause what I meant was Heaven! ;)

Love love love me some family :)

That's all for now!

Monday Madness!

Today has been WILD.

OK, not too bad..but I'm still ready to hit the dusty trail! :)

I had a wonderful weekend with my family..I am truly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life. Saturday, I enjoyed a nice family dinner at The Top O' the River in Gadsden to celebrate my Nanny's {55th} ;) birthday and Father's day. Sunday, I spent the day with Dale, visited his Step-Dad, then, had another dinner with my family! I came home to clean dishes and clothes, a {partially} clean house AND a perfectly mowed lawn!!...he even gave my flowers a nice little drink :) I love it when that happens!

I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day as well! - I'll be back later with the completed dresser pics and a new pillow project!

Weekend

We had a great weekend! I love spending time with my fam! :)

Friday night, we had dinner at one of our new fav places in Gadsden, Alabama. I've wanted to try it for a while, but I was under the impression that it was fancy-schmancy and it seemed like every time we passed by, we weren't exactly dressed for the occasion. Ok, who am I kidding? We're hardly ever {pretty much never} dressed schmancy..but one day, as we were trying to decide which of its neighbors to settle for, we saw some casually dressed folks walkin' out the door! WHATTT? All this time wasted eating at the same old chains and the place is CASUAL? Soo- needless to say we whipped it on in there...and loved it. Cute story, eh? :)

Saturday, Dale played on a team in a Mud Volleyball Tournament- Booo! And since MUD volleyball isn't exactly my cup of green tea- I enjoyed an entire day of yard sales and relaxing in/by the pool with my best friend, Lydia, who also happens to be my Mother. Love her. We had a great time laughing and talking- as you get older I guess you learn to appreciate days like that more, since you don't get to have them as often. That evening, after hosing Dale off, we hadn't made any plans so we decided to go up the mountain...and ended up at Desoto Falls! :) I love that place, it's SO pretty!

Typical.

I don't know the people who live in the house that's in the top right corner of that photo, but I hate them! ;)

Sunday, we decided to go to Dale's parents' house on the lake. Paislee has never been to the lake, so we figured it was time. Poor Lucy Goosey had to stay behind this time..bless her heart! Anyways, at first, I didn't know what Pais was going to think of the water. She loves water- but a lake has so much more than her kiddie pool :)

What? Every doggy needs a kiddie pool!

Anyway- back to the lake. She loved it! It took her a little while to warm up to it.. since it was her first time, we let her walk down a ramp on her own for a little bit-

Of course, that didn't last long!..SOMEBODY had to throw her in!!

:) I love them.

Pais enjoyed the ride home almost as much as the water!...

She insisted on riding back like this!- Back feet on the tool box- front on top of the truck!

I mayyy or may not have had to hang my whole body out the window of the truck to take this, but it was a must! ...She's our wild child! :)

And of course, Goosey was VERY happy for her big sis to be home!..Even though she did pout a little and refuse to pose!! :)

Don't Forget Your Drawers!

A few months ago, Dale's parents mentioned a dresser that they would no longer be using that needed a new home- my face did this :)..Dale gave the "oh no" look..my face did this :( ..& we loaded that sucker up! At the time, I was looking for a long, skinny dresser-type piece of furniture to use on that empty wall in my dining room. But after we got our table in place, we realized our eyes were bigger than our room :)

Go figure.

Anyways..I decided that it would go on the wall in my bedroom that I was saving for a huge mirror like this and some sort of chair, maybe something like this. For some reason, FREE seems to sound SO much better right now. Crazy, I know! Like I said before, sometimes you just have to make-do until you can get what you really really really really want.

I really wish I would have taken a before picture, because even though this was my first complete re-do on a larger piece of furniture and it by no means turned out perfect, it still is a COMPLETE turn around from what we started with. When we started, the body of the dresser was painted bright blue- {understatement} with John Deere green and yellow drawers.

I read a post from Katie at Bower Power- and this great little table she gave new life to by painting a distressed chevy pattern on its top, and I just had do put the idea to good use :)

..well that was the plan anyway.

Here is what we have so far:

Not quite as subtle as Katie's, but we're workin' on it! Yes, I am aware that there are still no drawers- or legs- nor do the drawers have new hardware- YET! ...

but they will!

I blame the rain.

I also blame the rain for the dishes in my sink, unfolded laundry, unmade bed :)

Nighty night.

Sniff & Spiff

I moved into my house about 7 months-ish ago, and it seems like I will NEVER be done decorating, moving things around, organizing, forcing my boyfriend to move everything in the entire house into every possible position it can be placed, hanging things up, etc.

Last weekend, after getting Goose settled into her new home-
and introducing her to the big sis…

I decided that the walls in my dining room were just plain empty- so I decided to take some items I had laying around and try my hand at spiffin’ the place up a little.

The chosen areas to -spiff- were a small area between two doorways and an empty wall beside my table.

{forgive me for the lack of before pics- I’m new to this, remember?}

I’ll make it up to you- promise.

Moving on.

Here’s what I rounded up:
This shelf was purchased at a yard sale a few weeks back for $4 bucks!…I know, it’s nothing to write home about, but it works.

And these frames that I already owned..I just sprayed them white and inserted some light turquoise and white striped material with a halved place mat in the center and topped each with a doily! {Thanks to Nan!}

Again, nothing thrilling. Just goes to show that things can be fixed with a temporary remedy until the things you really can’t afford want can be purchased!

That’s it for today!

Later taters
